The Nationals @ Santa Maria Speedway May 28th & 29th

Stephanie Odom – May 16th – The West Coast Shootout Late Model Series is gearing up for what will be one of the biggest weekends of racing on the West Coast May 28th and 29th. The series will invade Chris Kearns’ Santa Maria Speedway for the first time this season Memorial Day weekend for The Nationals paying $5,000 to the top spot.
“The Nationals is one of the most exciting late model shows of the season,” stated West Coast Late Model and Santa Maria Speedway promoter Chris Kearns. “The amount of talent that runs in the series always puts on a great show and to add a great purse too it will make it that more competitive.”
San Luis Obispo’s Steve Drake leads the point’s battle going into the weekend over El Segundo’s Nick Bartels. Both drivers have won series races at USA Raceway in Tucson, Arizona for the Copper on Dirt. Clay Daly, reigning series champion Mike Kirby and Cody Barnett round out the top five.

Qualifying and heat races will be ran on Saturday May 28th and feature events will be ran on Sunday May 29th. Gates will open at 4:00 PM with qualifying at 5:00 and racing at 6:00. Ticket prices are $14.00 for adults on May 28th with seniors, military and students at $12.00, kids 5-12 $6 and five and under free. Adults will be $20.00 May 29th with seniors, military and students at $18.00. Child prices will be the same.
