Drake Sweeps West Coast Late Model Shootout Action at Canyon Speedway Park

PEORIA, Arizona – The West Coast Late Model Shootout headlined two nights of racing at Canyon Speedway Park for the Mr. Excitement 40, a tribute to Terry Belcher Sr. Steve “The Snake” Drake swept the weekend winning both feature events.

Drake started Friday’s feature event from third and finished ahead of Tony Toste. Toste led the series point’s championship going into the weekend’s double header. Anthony Madrid, Tommy Malcolm and Bud Grossenbacher completed the top five.

A fast track in qualifying on Saturday night saw a new track record set by Drake with a time of 14.158. Finishing second in the dash, he started alongside Garrett Alberson, Drake capitalized on his front row position driving to his second victory of the weekend and third series win of the season. Alberson, who won with the West Coast Late Model Shootout at Canyon Speedway Park at the beginning of the season, crossed the line in second place with two time and defending series champion Clay Daly completing the podium. Bud Grossenbacher scored his second top-five of the weekend with Nick Bartels trailing

The West Coast Late Model Shootout will return to action for their final points event of the season on November 22nd and 23rd at Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, Arizona. For more information visit www.WestCoastLateModels.com.
