Bobby Hogge IV Sweeps Bud Nationals

Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas, CA completed a big weekend sweep at Bakersfield Speedway winning both the West Coast Late Model and the modified events during the 25th annual Bud Nationals on October 8th & 9th. Bobby won $7500 for the three main event victories.

On Friday October 8th,  Hogge IV caught race leader Mike Johnson in lapped traffic in turn 3 on lap 23 and went on to win the 30 lap $2000 to win feature. oregon racer Trevor Glaser finished 2nd followed by Bakersfield's own Rob Sanders. Steve Drake finished 4th followed by Clay Daly. Oregon's Rob Mayea finished 6th with Mike Kirby, Chris Shannon, Brad Pounds, and Billy Workman Jr. rounding out the top 10. Fast qualifier Steve Drake was one of six cars locked into Friday's feature after qualifying. The fastest 6 cars ran a dash to set up the first three rows for the main event. Mike Johnson came out on top followed by Booby Hogge IV, Nick Bartels, Steve Drake, Trevor Glaser and Dean Moore. Heat race winners were Dino Napier, Jeff Decker, Rob Sanders and Brad Pounds. The two B mains were won by John Lowrey and Billy Workman Jr.

On Saturday October 9th Bobby Hogge IV led all 50 laps for the wire to wire $3000 50 lap main event. Fast qualifier John Lowrey placed 2nd followed by Steve Drake in 3rd, Clay Daly in fourth and Trevor Glaser rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Chris Shannon, Jeff Decker, AJ Kirkpatrick, Rob Mayea and Nick Bartels. The same format from Friday night was used sending the top 6 qualifiers to the feature event. They ran a 6 lap dash to determine their starting positions for the A main and Mike Johnson came out on top followed by Bobby Hogge IV in 2nd, Clay Daly in 3rd, John Lowrey in 4th, Nickk Bartels finished 5th. Steve Drake was a scratch. Saturday heat race winners were Trevor Glaser, Jeff Decker. Rob Sanders and Chris Shannon. The two B mains were won by Oregon's Billy Workman Jr. and Jason Selvidge.
